Brief history of educational development centered in the college
Adama Hospital Medical College is working for quality education to execute the responsibly given by the government and to fulfill the demand of the community in the nation at large. The establishment of educational development center (EDC) with the help of international partners like Jhpiego-Ethiopia was one of the resul of the effort to improve the quality of medical education. Sience EDC was established in 2016, it had no separate office and the intended contribution was very limited.

The rationale of HSEDCs

  1. Public expectations towards educational accountability have led to requirements for QA & standards in health sciences & medical education.
  2. HSEDCs can avail specially trained staffs that are required to support these quality audit and assurance activities.
  3. The introduction of new educational strategies, increased use of learning technologies, development of new assessment tools; HSEDCs can contribute to the required teachers training.
  4. The increasing need to train more health workers coupled with rapid expansion in medical knowledge presents a serious challenge to medical education.

In recognition of these pressures, the college established HSEDCs that can provide expertise and assist teaching staff with educational challenges facing them.
